The Raisin Story

The Raisin Story

[Disclaimer: This story not for the faint of stomach]

One time when my son Nathan was about one and a half years old he climbed up on my lap while I was sitting on the sofa and gave me a big hug. I thought to myself, "Oh, how nice, he's loving me!" So I gave Nathan a big hug. Then I looked down at my arm and noticed that there was .... well .... poop all over it. I then looked more closely at Nathan and saw that he had poop coming out every side of his diaper. It was coming out the top, out both legs, out the front and out the back. It was everywhere. So I did what I always do in a crisis situation. I panicked. I just held him out in front of me and yelled, "Ahhhh!" My wife, always being the quick thinker, said, "Quick put him in the bathtub." So I ran with him down the hallway to the bathroom. On the way, Nathan's hand swiped across my face and wiped poop on my goatee. I put him in the bathtub and ran to the sink frantically trying to wipe off the poop on my arm and face. It was then that I heard my wife Deb yell, "No, no, no, no, NOOOOOO!" I turned around just in time to see ..... Now what you have to understand is that Nathan had eaten a lot of raisins that day. And when Deb had taken his diaper off in the bathtub, Nathan looked down and spied a raisin in his diaper. He proceeded to reach down and pick up the raisin and before Deb or I could reach down to stop him, stuck it in his mouth and began to chew. We stood there for a brief, awful second looking at him. Then he made the most awful face and spat the raisin out. A little trail of brown drool went down his chin. We had the worst case of heebie-jeebies we'd ever had after that. We jumped up and down screaming, "Ahhh! He ate the raisin!" It took at least an hour for us to get back to normal, and just when I thought I would be all good again, Deb would look at me and say, "He ate the raisin." And we'd be back jumping up and down again trying to make the heebie-jeebies go away. This is a true story.
